How to Measure Your Head
for a Wig
Follow our simple step-by-step guide to measuring your head for a wig. All you need is a soft measuring tape, a mirror and a few minutes to record your measurements.
Before You Begin
All you need is a soft measuring tape, a mirror and something to note down your measurements.
TOP TIP: Measure in centimetres. Keep the tape snug, but not too tight, and use a mirror to check its position.
Let's Get Measuring
Circumference
Wrap the tape around your head at your hairline, just above your eyebrows and over your ears.
Front to Nape
Measure from the centre of your front hairline, over your head, down to the nape of your neck.
Ear to Ear (Over Top)
Measure from the top of one ear, over the top of your head, to the other ear.
Ear to Ear (Across Front)
Measure from the top of one ear, across your front hairline, to the top of the other ear.
Temple to Temple
Measure from one temple to the other, straight across your forehead above your eyebrows.
Nape of Neck
Measure across the nape of your neck, from one side of your hairline to the other.
Side to Nape (Left)
Start just above your left ear and measure down to the nape of your neck.
Side to Nape (Right)
Repeat on your right side, measuring from just above your ear down to your nape.
You're All Set!
Keep a note of your measurements and compare them with the size guide for your chosen wig.
